How to play

A SpinShuffle puzzle is a square or rectangular grid of numbered tiles.  The tiles are connected by horizontal or vertical 'wheels'.  Spinning a wheel will swap the positions of the tiles connected to that wheel.  The aim of the puzzle is to use the wheels to arrange the tiles in the correct order.

The images below illustrate how wheel spinning works.  In the first image the tiles are arranged in the order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  In these examples we are focusing on the horizontal yellow and blue wheels (ignore the fragments of the vertical green and pink wheels).  Look carefully at the yellow and blue wheels.  The yellow wheel spans all five tiles (we say that it has a "length" of five).  The blue wheel spans (is attached to) four tiles: 2, 3, 4 and 5.  The wheels don't change during a game; their lengths and positions are fixed.

We now spin the yellow wheel by clicking the yellow disc at the centre of the wheel, as indicated by the arrow.  This spins all five tiles and thus changes the order to 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.  Notice that the centre tile (the 3 tile) does not change position.  This is because it is at the centre of the yellow wheel and the wheel has an odd length.

After our spin of the yellow wheel, the blue wheel is connected to tiles 4, 3, 2 and 1. We now spin the blue wheel, which swaps these tiles - giving us the final order 5, 1, 2, 3, 4 (the 5 tile did not move because it was not attached to the blue wheel).
